12/52

a portrait of my child once a week, every week, in 2013

Morning fog. There are some mornings where Little Smith wakes up perky and excited to meet the day, but much more often he is grumpy and groggy. I am not a morning person. I do not see birds singing when I open my eyes, even on the loveliest of days. I generally want to roll over and go back to sleep, but I always imagined that had something to do with my insomnia... I usually could use more sleep. But this kid sleeps 11 to 12 hours a night, so I'm thinking that maybe some people are just better at that transition from sleep to the real world. It's not easy for us, so give us some time to whine and complain and rub our eyes before we start this day. Thanks.

  1. Cute:) My son wakes up and starts singing in his crib. When I get him up he has a HUGE grin on his face, and is probably at his happiest. I'm a morning person too, so maybe it's genetic?! He's not too happy when he's tired.

  3. I do think it is genetic. my hubby & I wake up very differently and it is interesting to see the way the boys wake up as well. one is like me, one is definitely like his dad. the other -well he is both of us -grumpy & awake early! love your picture this week. linked your photo from last week on my blog. have a lovely, lovely start to your week. xo

  4. I am also an insomniac & also not a morning person. I have to get up extra early to incorporate rubbing they eyes, drinking coffee, a bit of drooling wake-up time, or else I'm a mess. Its a viscous cycle of grumpiness lol. I am, however, awesome sauce in the late afternoon~*

    Another adorable pic, btw--

  5. I caught myself in an actual growl upon waking up for work the other day, which actually put me in a better mood because it cracked me up. Also, I am envious of Little Smith's eyelashes! Lovely shot!

  6. Lovely picture, what gorgeous eyelashes!
I'm not a morning person, but having an early waking baby has made me get better at it!

  7. I´m most definately a night owl - love staying up late, even if I have to get up early the morning after!

  8. Oh, you and me both, lady. You and me both. Morning is my mortal enemy. In fact, Andrew often tells me that he disregards 99% of what comes out of my mouth before 8am. Ha!
